Professional Development Department
The Professional Development Department comprises two major committees – Professional Advancement and Central Education
Central Education is the umbrella committee of the various education committees:
Early Childhood Care, Primary, Secondary, Special Education, Technical Vocation and Training, and Tertiary.

- Oversees all professional matters
- Organizes professional development workshops* – school, national
- Provides input for Collective Agreements re professional advancement
- Provides training for members in the care and prevention of HIV/AIDS
- Offers opportunities for professional advancement through certification courses ( M. Ed)

- Engages in national consultations on education matters
- Responds to education initiatives
- Monitors the impact of education reforms
- Supports other education committees
