The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association was founded in 1979 and today represents some 14,000 teachers across the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
T&TUTA’s membership spans a cross-section from early childhood to tertiary education. Furthermore the Association has an active retirees section of some 1900 plus members.
T&TUTA is led by its six national elected officers through the 25 member Central Executive, under the policy direction of the Conference of Delegates and the General Council. with…Elected officers are Davanand Sinanan (President); Antonia De Freitas (1st Vice President); Lynsley A Doodhai (2nd Vice President); Martin Lum-Kin (3rd Vice President); Fitzroy Daniel (General Secretary); Gewan Durga (Treasurer).
TTUTA is also a member of the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT), the regional amalgamation of teachers’ unions and Education International (EI), an international federation of teachers’ unions.
